Maxwell State Dinner: PAIRA 1st Annual Spring Formal Event Details

Screen Shot 2014-04-01 at 7.43.30 PM

Please join us for PAIRA’s First Annual Spring Formal on April 18th at 6:00pm at the Horizon Ballroom, Crowne Plaza. Tickets are $25/person or $50/couple via CASH or CHECK. The Social Committee will be in the AV everyday (Monday thru Friday) from 11am to 4pm selling tickets. The deadline to RSVP is Friday, April 4th at 4:00pm.

We have an exciting night planned for our class. Here are some important event details and list of deadlines to keep note of:

1. It is very important that you purchase your ticket or your potential dates ticket by the April 4th, 4:00pm deadline. We will not be making any exceptions to late ticket purchases, since Crowne Plaza needs all attendee information two weeks prior to the event. For clarification purposes, your date can be either a PAIA student or non-PAIA student.

2. The dress attire for the evening is Black Tie Optional. This means a tuxedo is not required, however, it may be worn. Proper dressy attire such as a suit (not sport coat) is necessary. Women have the option of either wearing a formal long or short dress.

3. Call for Maxwell State Dinner Superlative Nominations: We invite you to nominate your PAIA classmates for this year’s Maxwell State Dinner Superlatives! Please only nominate one person per superlative unless where noted that two people can be nominated. Nominations are open until 11:59 AM on April 4. We will then collect the nominations and send a document for final votes and announce the winners at formal.

4. Call for PAIA Class Photos: The committee requests submission of photos for the Maxwell State Dinner Spring Formal. The photos are for a slideshow to be shown during the reception hour at formal. Please send any and all photos to paira.maxwell@gmail.com with “Spring Formal Photos” as the subject line. Group photos are preferred. Please send all submissions by April 14th

We have an exciting night planned for you all. Some event details include: Professional Photographer, Cultural Talent Show Performances (by your very own Maxwellians!), Superlative Winner Announcements, Full Course Dinner (Starter, Entree & Dessert), Announcement of Maxwell Citizen Award Winners and live DJ & dancing.

If you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact Sheila Koohpai (sheilamkoohpai@gmail.com) or Hema Maharj (h.maharaj187@gmail.com).

We hope you all are excited as we are!

Regards,

The Social Committee

(Sheila, Hema, Lauren, Eliza, Devaki, Marc)

Come meet the returning second year IR/PA students!

Have you been in the AV recently and wondered who some of the strange new people are? Chances are that it was one of the second-year IR/PA students who returned from various internships across the globe for their last semester in use.

This Tuesday, Jan 21, from 5-7pm (Maxwell 204) we would like to give you an opportunity to get to know them – and of course them the chance to get to know us! They would love to share their knowledge with us as well as give us the valuable information they wish they had known a year ago!

Most of them have spent the summer and/or the fall term in one of Maxwell’s Global Programs and in various internships. They would be happy to share their experiences with you and answer any questions you bring with you.

The department will sponsor pizza and beverages (big thanks at this point!). Please RSVP by Monday, Jan 20, 6pm if you are sure that you will attend:

This meetup can be a great resource for first-year IR students who are pursuing their internship options, but is of course open to all Maxwell graduate students!
